This Easter we invited everyone to consider giving an offering to support Friends of the Carpenter, a faith-based ministry that provides safety, relationship, and support to vulnerable people in our greater Vancouver community. Those who come through the doors Monday-Friday are greeted with warm hospitality, offered a cup of coffee and perhaps a snack, and then invited to sit around a table with others and help with woodworking of all shapes, sizes and styles. Woodworking projects provide a tangible activity, a way to contribute back to the community.
The main product of Friends is relationships. Through close interaction with volunteers and staff lives are changed with love–as helping those who have encountered many difficulties in life see themselves as people of worth and take that next step in bringing their lives back on track. Our goal for this year’s Easter Outreach to the Community offering was $1,000. The Hillcrest Family was able to raise $1,623! By exceeding this goal we can be a sponsoring church to Friends for another year and further support their ministry. You can make your donation at church on Palm or Easter Sunday, or give online. Choose Giving Type “Friends of the Carpenter” so we know where to apply your gift.
